SONICrider from the Netherlands asked me if I wanted to contribute a track to his EAR project & label. After listening to his own tracks "PRIMAL FORCE" and "MOVEment" (both great!) on the label's Bandcamp page, I felt inspired and got to work.

"Walking Zone 5" is basically a modular session that I cut down to an hour and to which I added a lot of more modular and field recording layers over the course of three weeks. This was really hard work, folks!

Zone 5 refers to "Piknik na obochinje" by the Strugatzki brothers, which I liked both as a book and as a Tarkovsky movie (and the movies soundtrack by Eduard Artemyev is worth listening, too!).

I wanted this to be a journey through sound perception, walking the line between ambient and experimental, with feelings of departure, travel and transfer, chaos and confusion, reorientation and tranquility, and finally finding some kind of inner golden sphere.
